The fast of Karva Chauth is celebrated specially in north India, as a festival. This fast is observed by married women to enrich their married life. And, by worshiping Goddess, they ask for the longevity of their husband. After keeping the whole day fast, the moon is visioned in the evening and the fast is concluded. On this day of fast, Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesha and Kartikay, and moon is worshiped. In this year, this fast will be observed on 15 October 2011. Karva Chauth Celebration In this fast, mainly Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are worshiped. This fast is observed on Chaurthi of Krishna Paksha in Kartik Mas, specially in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. Well, according to our mythology, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are worshiped for family’s happiness, peace and well-being. As a husband wife couple, Shiva and Parvati have both religious and mythological importance. Famous Saga of Karva Chauth Many stories are prevalent about this fast, in which one the story of one sister and seven brothers is very famous. Long time ago, there was a girl. She had seven sister, and she got married to a king. On the first Karva Chauth, the girl came to her parents house. She kept the fast of Karva Chauth, but, as it was her first Karva Chauth, she could not tolerate the hunger and thirst. She was eagerly waiting for moon to come out. Her seven brothers got upset looking at her condition. They all loved their sister a lot. They planed for conclusion of their sister’s fast. And, from behind the leaves of Pipal, they showed her fake shadow of moon in a mirror. The girl thought of this fake moon as real one and concluded her fast, by eating food. After the conclusion of fast by the girl, her husband’s health started getting worse. On listening the news of her husbands bad health, she reached her parents-in-laws house. On the way she met Lord Shanker and Goddess Parvati. Goddess Parvati told her, that her husband was dead, because she had concluded her fast by the vision of fake moon. After hearing this, the girl asked apologies for her brothers act. Goddess Parvati said her “Your husband can be alive again. But, for this you will have to complete the fast of Karva Chauth in a systematic manner.” Then, Mata Parvati, explained the whole procedure of this fast to the girl. As instructed by Goddess, the girl again observed the fast in a systematic way and got back the life of her husband. The fast of Karva Chauth is kept for the husband’s good health and longevity. In the northern India, this fast has crossed its boundaries of faith and confidence, rather, it is not influenced by the fashion and colors of this new age. Karva Chauth in A New Form The significance of Karva Chauth Vrat has increased with time. Among the modern and educated ladies, where on one side the relevance of other fast got reduced, and the fast of Karva Chauth become mode of expressing love for the lovers, fiance or husbands. Now, its not just a fast kept by the married women, but it has become the first Vrat kept by husbands for their wives. It came into view, that this fast is kept by both, husband and wife. After keeping the Vrat for each other the whole day, at night they go to a restaurant and eat food with each others hand. Today the basic motive behind this fast is mutual love and dedication. Rituals like listening to the fast story, not drinking water, offering water to moon and drinking water from husband’s hand, are tried to be followed. But, being job oriented, all the rituals are not performed systematically. On Karva Chauth, women like to embellish together with observing of fast. On this day, women wear beautiful clothes. Shops of Sarees and fashion are full with ladies. They are so very interested to go to beauty parlours. This day, ladies are not limited to make up stuff, but they go for getting Mehendi on their hands and feet, which earns Lakhs of rupees to henna market people. Standing in a long line for make is also acceptable by them today. Karva Chauth: Increasing Mutual Harmony of Married Life Profits earned by market through Karva Chauth is quite clear. But, the fast plays an important role in making married life happy and successful. Because Karva Chauth today is, not just a festival of tradition rather a source of sharing of feelings. Speciality of our culture is that the mythology has the trace of novelty. There used to be a time, when this fast was observed by ladies as an act of dedication for their husbands. But, today it has become a symbol of unity and coordination between a husband and wife. Time has made this Vrat festival more sensitive and an expression of love. observing fast for each other, strengthen the bond of realization and understanding. In the metro life, which changes with time, husband and wife don’t get to spend much time together. Both of them are job oriented. They are not able to express their emotion for each other because of the lack of time. Procedure of Karva Chauth Worship To observe the fast of Karva Chauth, after completing daily work in the early morning, God Shiva and Goddess Parvati are worshiped. Water is kept in a utensil made of mud, calendar of Karva Chauth is hung and worshiped. Married women, fast for the whole day, and worship again in the evening, and also, hear the Karva Chauth saga. In the evening, the Vrat is concluded by worshiping moon.

A Different Truth

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: “I am blind, please help.” There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, “Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?”

The man said, “I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way.”

I wrote: “Today is a beautiful day but I cannot see it.”

Both signs told people that the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people that they were so lucky that they were not blind. Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?

Moral of the Story: Be thankful for what you have.. Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively.

When life gives you a 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 reasons to smile Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear. Keep the faith and drop the fear.

The most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling…

And even more beautiful is, knowing that you are the reason behind it!!!

Enjoy your day with a heart of gratitude.

“That’s my son over there,” she said, pointing to a little boy in a red sweater who was gliding down the slide.

“He’s a fine looking boy” the man said. “That’s my daughter on the bike in the white dress.”

Then, looking at his watch, he called to his daughter. “What do you say we go, Melissa?”

Melissa pleaded, “Just five more minutes, Dad. Please? Just five more minutes.”

The man nodded and Melissa continued to ride her bike to her heart’s content. Minutes passed and the father stood and called again to his daughter. “Time to go now?”

Again Melissa pleaded, “Five more minutes, Dad. Just five more minutes.”

The man smiled and said, “OK.”

“My, you certainly are a patient father,” the woman responded.

The man smiled and then said, “Her older brother Tommy was killed by a drunk driver last year while he was riding his bike near here. I never spent much time with Tommy and now I’d give anything for just five more minutes with him. I’ve vowed not to make the same mistake with Melissa.

She thinks she has five more minutes to ride her bike. The truth is, I get Five more minutes to watch her play.”

Life is all about making priorities, what are your priorities?

Give someone you love five more minutes of your time today!

There is a difference between being an acquaintance and being a friend. An acquaintance is someone whose name you know, who you see every now and then, who you probably have something in common with and who you feel comfortable around.

It’s a person that you can invite to your home and share things with. But they are people who you don’t share your life with, whose actions sometimes you don’t understand because you don’t know enough about them.

On the other hand, a friend is someone you love. Not that you are “in love” with them, but you care about them and you think about them when they are not there. The people you are reminded of when you see something they might like, and you know this because you know them so well. They are the people whose pictures you have and whose faces are in your head regardless.

Friends are the people you feel safe around because you know they care about you. They call just to see how you are doing, because a friend doesn’t need an excuse. They tell you the truth, the first time, and you do the same. You know that if you have a problem, they are there to listen.

Friends are the people who won’t laugh at you or hurt you, and if they do hurt you they try hard to make it up to you. They are the people you love, regardless of whether you realize it.

Friends are the people you cried with when you got rejected from colleges and during the last song at the prom and at graduation. They are the people that when you hug them, you don’t think about how long to hug and who’s going to be the first one to let go.

Maybe they are the people that hold the rings at your wedding, or maybe they are the people who give you away at your wedding, or maybe they are the people you marry. Maybe they are the people who cry at your wedding because they are happy or because they are proud.

They are the people who stop you from making mistakes and help you when you do. They are are the people whose hand you can hold, or you can hug or give them a kiss and not have it be awkward because they understand the things you do and they love you for them.

They stick with you and stand by you. They hold your hand. They watch you live and you watch them live and you learn from them. Your life is not the same without them.

Take one handsome gent
Then join them both together
By someone heaven sent.

Take warmth and affection
Flavour it with joy
Add love and devotion
And a bouncing baby boy.

Take a bowl of adoration
Add a dash of sympathy and concern
Add a bundle of understanding
And patience in it’s turn.

Take a pinch of determination
Give and take a little too
Add a handful of tolerance
And watch your dreams come true.

Take a bowl full of hardship
Let it bubble with affection
Add a sprig of cupids arrow
And watch with adoration.

Take a home not a house
And a family of three
Now what else can this recipe need
Oppps! How could I forget ME!

Some words :

It hurts to love someone and not be loved in return, But what is more painful is to love someone and never find the courage to let that person know how you feel.

A sad thing in life is when you meet someone who means a lot to you, Only to find out in the end that it was never meant to be and you just have to let go.

The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch swing with, Never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you’ve ever had.

It’s true that we don’t know what we’ve got until we lose it, but it’s also true that we don’t know what we’ve been missing until it arrives.

It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to love someone-but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.

Don’t go for looks; they can deceive. Don’t go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright.

Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.

Always put yourself in the other’s shoes. If you feel that it hurts you, It probably hurts the person too.

A careless word may kindle strife; a cruel word may wreck a life; a timely word may level stress; a loving word may heal and bless.

The happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best of everything they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, ends with a tear. When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you’re the one smiling and everyone around you is crying.

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said:

I AM BLIND. PLEASE HELP.

There were only a few coins in the hat.

The boy recognized his footsteps and asked: “Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?”

The man said, “I only wrote the truth. I also wrote what you meant but in a different way. ”

What he had written was:

TODAY IS A BEAUTIFUL DAY
AND I CANNOT SEE IT.

Do you think the first sign and the second sign were saying the same thing? The first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign touched their hearts. Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?

So,

Think differently.

THERE IS ALWAYS A BETTER WAY!!
